Just came across this blog of mine that I forgot existed...
I noticed that some of the Osaka record store information in my previous post is now outdated. Will post an updated version in the near future.
I've also started "selling" LDs (well 5 of them to be exact), on the wonderful site LDDB.

They take up space and I'm not sure how much demand there is for certain titles so have yet to build up stock. Of course, if I were ever to receive any requests, I would seek them out...

Record shops in Osaka
Thought I'd make a list of some of the decent record shops I know in Osaka. Most of the record shops are in the south of the city, especially the Ame-Mura/Shinsaibashi area and the Nipponbashi area. In fact Nipponbashi has tons of shops that sell records and CDs. Anyway, these are the shops I'm familiar with..

Nice little store located next to a maid cafe in Nipponbashi. The guy who works here has lovely silver hair and likes a bit of Klaus Schulze. Lots of good rock, alternative shits..

There seem to be a few of these shops but I only ever go to one, located in Nipponbashi, round the corner from Forever Records. The first floor is CDs but if you go up the stairs there are records on the 2nd and 3rd floors. 2nd floor has Japanese music and lots of rock, etc. 3rd floor has metal shits...and judging by the address, is probably an unrelated shop. Anyway, there is a maid cafe across the way on this floor...

There are about 7 or 8 Disc JJ stores in Osaka, most of them in Nipponbashi. The store I usually go to (as it seems to have a fast turnover of stock) has 3 floors and is on the main street, Sakai-Suji. Lots of jazz, rock, prog rock, world music.

Fernando700 spreading the word about Sir Records
Sir Records, selling records online.
When I get new additions I will put them up here. Should anyone have requests I plan to do my best to help out. At the moment, I only have a catague of about 400 records. They can be viewed on Discogs (http://www.discogs.com/sell/list?seller=fernando700). Half of those records are my friends (Nishino san, who runs an online store (once a real store) in Osaka called O-Level Records) and half are records I've picked up in record shops about town. Most of Nishino's records are not the kind music I listen to or like (but we are kind of partners), but the records I went out and bought myself are bands I'm interested in. I hope to increase the amount of records so I have a wide and great range of good music; indie rock/alternative/experimental/jazz/post rock/doom/stoner/drone/prog rock/glam/ambient/psychedelic. etc etc.
