Thought I'd make a list of some of the decent record shops I know in Osaka. Most of the record shops are in the south of the city, especially the Ame-Mura/Shinsaibashi area and the Nipponbashi area. In fact Nipponbashi has tons of shops that sell records and CDs. Anyway, these are the shops I'm familiar with..

Located in Ame-Mura. Great selection of new and used records and CDs. Me and Gerry think it's a little pricey, but you can find heaps of stuff here.

Round the corner from Timebomb, (after checking the address, it's technically in the same building.) Big store with a lot of records. Along with the "rock" genres that I prefer, there is also a lot of hip-hop, dance, reggae, etc.

In Ame-Mura, also above a beauty salon if my memory serves me correct. Mainly sells new releases. Electronic, dance, hip-hop, krautrock, etc. Also sells beer!

Located in Horie, across the road from Ame-Mura. Lots of prog rock, all catagorized by country. Half of the shop is records and half CDs.

Nice little store located next to a maid cafe in Nipponbashi. The guy who works here has lovely silver hair and likes a bit of Klaus Schulze. Lots of good rock, alternative shits..

There seem to be a few of these shops but I only ever go to one, located in Nipponbashi, round the corner from Forever Records. The first floor is CDs but if you go up the stairs there are records on the 2nd and 3rd floors. 2nd floor has Japanese music and lots of rock, etc. 3rd floor has metal shits...and judging by the address, is probably an unrelated shop. Anyway, there is a maid cafe across the way on this floor...

There are about 7 or 8 Disc JJ stores in Osaka, most of them in Nipponbashi. The store I usually go to (as it seems to have a fast turnover of stock) has 3 floors and is on the main street, Sakai-Suji. Lots of jazz, rock, prog rock, world music.
